Every year I try to learn a new craft. So again this year.
I wanted something that had some overlap with my previous crafts, knitting, weaving, spinning, bookbinding. So it would probably be something from within the textile craft sphere.
I made a decision, read a lot online, bought some books, bought some material and got started.
Today I finished my first object in this new craft of mine: crewel embroidery.
A sampler of different stitches over a mehndi/henna tattoo pattern from the internet. Not quite satisfied with everything. That blue blob for example should have been ripped out and re-stitched. But I'll leave it as it is. On the other hand the trellis stitching in the red central leaf shape went very well.
I see this as a learning piece to come back to and see what I did OK and what I can improve.
So, what's your new craft for this summer?
